Siam - Personal Realization:

Anyone who reads the Qur'an especially verses 9:112, 33:35, 66:05 can easily understand that this is an important provision of Allah. Due to their own ignorance and petty interests, some self-interested persons are confusing the words and meanings of this important provision and distracting us from the teachings of its basic underlying reality.

The main teaching of Siam is to acquire the necessary knowledge about Allah's Laws from the revealed book of Allah by being devotedly steadfast or unwavering. In this case, people will acquire the necessary knowledge on required provisions of the Qur'an by performing Siam immediately after believing in God so that he can live a life of free from Kufr, hypocrisy and shirk by being aware of Allah.

Today's Roza is a Persian word and the ritual fasting called Roza appears to have originated from the ancient Zoroastrian religion.

The following verses with their Bengali and English meanings are inserted to understand Siam:

2:183
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ
O you who have believed, recommended upon you is Siam as it was recommended upon those before you that you may become conscious on Allah’s Devine guidance.

আল-বাকারাহ 2:184
أَيَّامًا مَّعْدُودَٰتٍۚ فَمَن كَانَ مِنكُم مَّرِيضًا أَوْ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِّنْ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَۚ وَعَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يُطِيقُونَهُۥ فِدْيَةٌ طَعَامُ مِسْكِينٍۖ فَمَن تَطَوَّعَ خَيْرًا فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّهُۥۚ وَأَن تَصُومُوا۟ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْۖ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
[Siam for] a limited number of days. So whoever among you is ill or on a journey [during them] – then an equal number of other days [are to be made up]. And upon those who are able to do Siam, eliminate the lack of the needy person and whoever volunteers further good it is better for him. But to Siam is the best for you, if you only knew.

2:185
شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أُنزِلَ فِيهِ ٱلْقُرْءَانُ هُدًى لِّلنَّاسِ وَبَيِّنَٰتٍ مِّنَ ٱلْهُدَىٰ وَٱلْفُرْقَانِۚ فَمَن شَهِدَ مِنكُمُ ٱلشَّهْرَ فَلْيَصُمْهُۖ وَمَن كَانَ مَرِيضًا أَوْ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِّنْ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَۗ يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ بِكُمُ ٱلْيُسْرَ وَلَا يُرِيدُ بِكُمُ ٱلْعُسْرَ وَلِتُكْمِلُوا۟ ٱلْعِدَّةَ وَلِتُكَبِّرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ مَا هَدَىٰكُمْ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ
Heated moment/time/period of deep think, in which was revealed the knowledge of Quran, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights this moment/time/period let him continue Siam; and whoever is ill or on a journey – then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful.

2:186
وَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِى عَنِّى فَإِنِّى قَرِيبٌۖ أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ ٱلدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِۖ فَلْيَسْتَجِيبُوا۟ لِى وَلْيُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِى لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْشُدُونَ
And when My servants ask me, indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided.

2:187
أُحِلَّ لَكُمْ لَيْلَةَ ٱلصِّيَامِ ٱلرَّفَثُ إِلَىٰ نِسَآئِكُمْۚ هُنَّ لِبَاسٌ لَّكُمْ وَأَنتُمْ لِبَاسٌ لَّهُنَّۗ عَلِمَ ٱللَّهُ أَنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَخْتَانُونَ أَنفُسَكُمْ فَتَابَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَعَفَا عَنكُمْۖ فَٱلْـَٰٔنَ بَٰشِرُوهُنَّ وَٱبْتَغُوا۟ مَا كَتَبَ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمْۚ وَكُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يَتَبَيَّنَ لَكُمُ ٱلْخَيْطُ ٱلْأَبْيَضُ مِنَ ٱلْخَيْطِ ٱلْأَسْوَدِ مِنَ ٱلْفَجْرِۖ ثُمَّ أَتِمُّوا۟ ٱلصِّيَامَ إِلَى ٱلَّيْلِۚ وَلَا تُبَٰشِرُوهُنَّ وَأَنتُمْ عَٰكِفُونَ فِى ٱلْمَسَٰجِدِۗ تِلْكَ حُدُودُ ٱللَّهِ فَلَا تَقْرَبُوهَاۗ كَذَٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ ٱللَّهُ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ لِلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُ
It has been made permissible for you the night preceding Siam in hot period of worry to go to your subordinates to involve them with the same. They are a clothing for you and you are a clothing for them (you are complementary to each other). Allah knows that you used to deceive yourselves, so He accepted your repentance and forgave you. So now, have similar understanding with them and seek that which Allah has decreed for you. And eat/consume and drink/absorb and seek the kitab/Koran/book of Allah until the white thread of dawn becomes distinct to you from the black thread [Allah's laws are not as clear as daylight]. Then continue the Siam until the night. And do not make waste of time with them as long as you are continuing sium to understand the Devine guidelines of Allah/mosques. These are the clear message of Allah, so do not waste time with anyone. Thus does Allah make clear His verses [i.e., ordinances] to the people that they may become righteous/Allah’s conscious/muttaki.

There are also some other verses in the Qur'an which urge Siam. These siams appear to be associated with various crimes committed. If ever a Muttaqee or Allah conscious person loses his Muttaqi/Allah conscious trait, only then can he commit such a crime, so Allah has re-ordained Siam for his or their punishment and correction.

2:196 - Siam for total ten days including three days and seven days in Hajj Umrah.

5:95 - Siam for the required number of days to understand the laws of Allah, including the local law, if the law of the concerned area is violated or hunted unjustly.

4:92 - Siam for two months if a Muttaqi kills a believer wrongfully being unable to identify him as believer.

5:89 - Atonement for breaking an oath is to perform Siam for three days.

58:04 - Siam for two months for obscene acts like Zihar.
